Naked Conversations with Nude Women

Wonderful article, Ann. Before modern art, I think the distinction between nude and naked was pretty clear to most people (in Western culture, anyway–mainly because so much imagery in the Church included the nude. Now there’s definitely a blurry line between the two. Lots of fashion today flirts with–nudity? Or nakedness? I really don’t know. In my own life, I remain a prude. I remember visiting Germany about ten years ago and being startled at all these naked fat-bellied men and breast-saggy women wandering around naked (nude?) at the beach at Lake Constance right in the midst or people (like me) who wore bathing suits. As for the spas, it was hilarious to go to them and sit down a bar for a drink where everyone was buck naked.
It’s wanting to embrace the female form in all of its diverse glory that inspired Women’s Health’s very first Naked Issue back in 2014, for which actress Zoe Saldana fronted the magazine’s cover in the nude, with trainer and former reality star going buff within the pages.
Nude women talk about woman, body, equality and science. Emulating goddess mythology and iconic paintings of reclining female nudes, dozens of contemporary nude women discuss a future world without men or at least one in which women have achieved perfect equality with men in every sphere of life.
