Donald Trump’s latest brawl with Ted Cruz began with a super PAC’s use of nude photos of Melania Trump, taken fifteen years ago during her career as a model.
Yesterday, Trump won Arizona’s 58 delegates, but Cruz snagged Utah’s 40 delegates. Days earlier, a SuperPAC that wants Cruz in the White House, called MakeAmericaAwesome (because it’s already great), ran a Facebook campaign against Trump, aimed at the state’s conservative voters. The ad features a nude photo of Melania Trump from a 15-year-old clothing-challenged GQ photo spread. Over the photo, but not covering Melania, thank goodness, ran the headline: “Meet Melania Trump. Your Next First Lady.”
No matter what most men’s political leanings are, “behind closed doors” I’ll wager most would be thrilled to have the undivided attention and full adoration of someone who looks and acts here like Melania Trump. For a moment or a duration, depending. Is the Cruz camp implying that if she looked like Eleanor Roosevelt, one of our nation’s most cherished and respected first ladies but certainly not a “looker,” and wasn’t photographed nude by a noted, professional fashion photographer, that her spouse, Donald Trump, would be more electable?

The anti-Trump super PAC, , used a photo that originally was published in a 2000 photo spread in British GQ, and online by the magazine. The photo shows Melania, a model and then Trump’s girlfriend, nude, but strategically arranged on a fur and handcuffed to a briefcase. Make America Awesome , targeting Mormon voters in Utah ahead of the March 22 state Republican caucuses. The ad read, “Meet Melania Trump. Your Next First Lady. Or, You Could Support Ted Cruz on Tuesday.”
